Now this was quite the predicament. Who'd have thought Silverthorn Crossing had an animal shelter?
If that guy hadn't caught him, he would never have known. It was easier to explore a city as a dog, at least in Danny's opinion. You can travel faster, and get into small spaces. Not to mention the free food from the people who thought he was a poor, unfortunate stray.
But he'd overlooked one small, very important detail; he didn't have a collar. He'd been tricked into a guy's van by the promise of hamburgers and a Frisbee game and taken to this. Now he was stuck. If he changed back to his human form, he'd have a lot of explaining to do. He couldn't call anyone to come and get him. Even if he could find a phone and dial, he couldn't speak.
Which meant he was stuck here until someone came along and busted him out. And given the number of dogs he could see, that was unlikely. The man had tied a rope around his neck to serve as a collar and leash. Danny knew better than to resist. Ropes had a tendency to choke dogs that didn't go where it lead them.
"Got another one, girls," he called, pushing the door open and leading him inside. A red-headed woman at the desk stepped around and gazed at him in wonder.
Another, this one a blond, trotted over and stroked his head. He flattened his ears and gazed up at her, trying to look as sweet and innocent as possible. Maybe they'd feel sorry for him and let him go. "Such a pretty boy! I'll call you Chase."
Chase. Seriously?
She turned to her comrade. "Lacy, let's take 'im back to an enclosure and get him settled."
Woah, wait a second. Enclosure? Hope that's not what I think it is...
But it was. The girls lead him to a cage. A large cage, but a cage nonetheless. The left and right wall were concrete, while the front and back were chain-link fences. Two metal bowls sat in the corner. Daniel let them herd him inside without a fight, though inwardly, he was whimpering. He turned toward them before the walked away, lowering his head and giving them the puppy dog eyes, tail wagging slowly. The red-head, Lacy, winked at him before following her friend out.
With a sigh, Daniel headed for the water bowl and took a few swallows before flopping down on the bed in the corner, paws over his nose. Quietly, he began to plan his grand escape.

Spencer entered the humane society, anxious. She had been thinking about going and getting a dog for sometime. Someone who would be there for her when she returned from a rough transformation. She also sort of wanted one to run with. The way she and Eric used to run through the Scottish countryside. She could use the company especially being new to the area, being a werewolf in a strange country could be rather isolating.
There was a red head like herself at the desk. Spencer pulled at the sleeves of her sweater and walked up to the desk. The name tag on the woman's blouse said 'Erica'. Spencer smiled and said, her accent ringing,"Hello my name is Spencer Ulrika, I called earlier about adopting a dog?"
"Ah yes! Hello, Spencer, I'm Erica," the red-head said smiling as they both shook hands, "You arrived at a good time! I think we just got the perfect dog for you. A half-wolf mix if you think you can handle it."
Spencer held back a snort. She not being able to handle a half-wolf? She turned into a wolf. If anyone could handle a wolf, it was her.
"Sounds lovely," Spencer said, smiling.
Lucy led Spencer back into the Kennel's. She cringed at the site of all the dogs in cages. She could never handle being in a cage. It would be the worst thing that could possibly happen to her. Lucy showed her a grey wolf-like dog.
"This is Chase," Erica said, pointing to the dog.
Spencer sniffed the air, when a particular scent hit her nose. That was no dog in that cage, it was a Shape-shifter. Spencer's eyes widened in shock. She couldn't believe that s shifter would get stuck in such a situation. Not that she could talk, she's gotten a few near death experiences under her belt.
"I'll take him!" she said, quickly, putting Erica off guard. SPencer was going to get the shifter out, they were similar blood, and she never let someone that was a member of the supernatural pack get left behind.

This is Chase.
He ignored the words and continued to think. The floor was concrete. There would be no digging his way out. The spaces in the chain-link big enough a mouse could get through. Too bad he couldn't turn into one. For the first time in years, he wished he was a full-blooded shifter. He turned to look up at his visitor and his warden, and almost at once, he had risen out of bed and trotted to the fence. This was no human. He could tell by her smell and by the way she carried herself. He pricked his ears and gave her a pleading expression.
I'll take him!
The words sent his tail wagging. He let out a victorious bark. He hadn't even been there a day yet, and now someone was busting him out! A kind person at that, since he didn't even know the werewolf girl. It was a good thing, too. Danny just wasn't suited for prison. He wouldn't have survived a week before getting shanked at dinner... No, wait, that was human prison.
Lacy opened the door, snapping a plain black collar around his neck. He nodded to her before walking a happy circle around Spencer, smiling like only a dog can. Sweet salvation!
He turned toward the door and began to trot off, pausing near the door to look over his shoulder as if to say, you two coming or what?

Spencer followed the shifter, through the kennel. She couldn't believe she was going to have to pay an adoption fee on an animal she couldn't even own. He owed her money that's for sure. She Stopped at the front desk and filled out all the papers and payed the adoption fee. She sighed and thanked the girls and walked out of the building with the shifted dog.
When Spencer and "chase" left the building she bent down and removed the black collar from around his neck. Collars seemed like an instrument of torture to her. Who would want something around their neck like that? Horrible cruel thing to do to dogs in her opinion. She looked at the shifter for a moment. She was gonna give him an earful that's for sure.
"Are you a member of the loony bin, or what?" she asked annoyed, her accent thick, "Who in their bloody mind ends up in an animal shelter? I was just going to find myself a full-moon buddy, and I end adopting a shape-shifter?"
A growl escaped her and she immediately cover her mouth. "Sorry...Sometimes the wolf in me comes out."

Danny followed the werewolf out, nearly bouncing out of cheerfulness. The jail break had been a success, and it came with a free collar! That meant that no one would bring him back here whenever he was shifted.
Suddenly he realized Spencer had stopped walking. He paused and took a step back so he could stand next to her. She removed the color with a loud click, and he could tell by the look in her eyes he was about to get chewed out. Well, he did deserve it.
He flinched from her anger at first for no other reason than he was unaccustomed to being yelled at. Before she'd finished, he'd sat back up, though his ears were still flattened. After her apology, Danny raised a paw as if to say, hold on, I'll be right back.
He rounded the corner of a nearby building and found himself in a quiet alleyway. It seemed deserted. Sniffing the air to be sure he was alone, Danny preformed one last sweep before shifting back into his human form.
Brushing a few strands of black-and-white dog hair from his light blue shirt, Daniel reemerged and headed back toward Spencer.
"It's fine. I deserve that. But the guy had a Frisbee, and I really like playing Frisbee," he explained with an embarrassed grin, one hand on the back of his neck. "And no one said I couldn't be your full-moon buddy. My name's Daniel Harper, by the way," he added, as if it was an afterthought.
Spotting the collar in her hand, he let out a chuckle. "Mind if I hold on to that? It'll keep me from being picked up again."
