Personality: Juliet is quiet, determined and very focused. She doesn’t lose sight of goals until it’s literally impossible to keep them as the center of attention. She’s very concerned about how she looks, and has a very low self-esteem which she makes up for by being dismissive about it and constantly telling herself that she doesn’t care. For a while she’s been a pretty calm person, barely raising to the challenge of arguments but if pushed too much and too far, on occasion she’ll snap and fight back. However, she hates confrontation to the point of nearly having anxiety attacks if presented with high intensity disputes. Juliet doesn’t trust people very quickly, if at all and doesn’t put it past anyone to be violent. She’s always wary of people, no matter how long she’s known them and always has to fight doubt when thinking about what they could do.
Otherwise, Juliet’s pretty strong-minded albeit nervous and is intelligent. She loves dance with all her heart and she retreats to that when stressed or upset. Juliet hates to be a burden on anyone, and won’t take advantage of anyone even if it’s necessary. When panicked, she doesn’t think ahead and regrets not thinking things through later.

History: Juliet was the youngest of three, her older sister, Nina, had a fiery personality- very strong and independent. Jackson was more quiet but had a short-temper. Juliet was the delicate one, quiet and obedient. Frederick, her father, also was very quick to anger- more so when money was tight and he was stressed. Allison was a more timid version of Juliet, and didn’t like to step in to stop any arguments when Juliet’s father was angry. All told, everything here was a recipe for disaster.
Juliet adored Nina, looked up to her spirit and strength. There was less admiration for her older brother, he was quiet- a jock and quite popular, but he didn’t have much to do with Juliet.
With her dainty physique, Juliet took up dancing at a very young age to her mother’s delight. Nina had flat out refused to do so when she was younger and of course Nick wasn’t an option for that.
Dance became a priority to Juliet, and she had the talent for it. Quickly she excelled to the top of her classes- in any type of dance she wished to take up. Nina continued to make their parent’s lives hard by going out to parties, drinking and enjoying her own life. Juliet never understood that, the excessive social life- and so she stuck to doing well in school and delving into her dances.
Sadly it was Nina who tipped their father over the edge- helped by both Allison and Fred losing their jobs. He became verbally abusive. The yelling and arguments deeply upset Juliet; she hated that Nina was always yelled at and that there was so much upset in the family. Even though it wasn’t anyone’s fault really, Juliet felt the blame was her own.
Her dance classes had always been expensive, and she thought they were the cause of all of the money stress. However her mother wouldn’t let her make the mistake of giving them up, much to the dismay of her father. He began to drink, and soon became an alcoholic. All this time Jackson managed to stay in the background, away from conflict.
Juliet started to focus more on her dance, to the point of obsession. When she wasn’t at school or doing homework, she was at the dance studio, pushing herself harder. Juliet didn’t want to go home, she just wanted someone to be proud of her. Juliet’s dancing wasn’t a priority to Allison anymore, there was no one to notice.
That was when the real problems developed. Juliet picked up low self-esteem from the verbal abuse her alcoholic father threw at her. She believed you had to be beautiful, stunning, skinny to be a good dancer. So, at fifteen, she stopped eating as much, until she ate nearly nothing at all.
Nina had moved out and gone to college, and didn’t visit anymore. Her father wouldn’t accept her presence after she had stood up to him when he had insulted her boyfriend and her the last time they visited. A year later Jackson’s grades had dropped, he couldn’t get a football scholarship because of this and decided not to go to college. Juliet’s father’s anger hit the roof.
For days he blew up at any small thing that happened and Juliet happened to get in the way one day. She’d knocked over a vase and her father shouted streams of insults at her and had been so angry that he’d actually hit her.
That was when the real problems developed. Juliet picked up low self-esteem from the verbal abuse her alcoholic father threw at her. She believed you had to be beautiful, stunning, skinny to be a good dancer. So, at fifteen, she stopped eating as much, until she ate nearly nothing at all.
Dropping weight very quickly, life went on, and no one really noticed, or else just didn’t care about Juliet’s health. Nina got engaged and moved in with her fiancee, constantly offering for Juliet to move in with them. Juliet couldn’t burden her sister with herself, and Nina’s fiancee wasn’t really a fan of the Bolton family, other than Nina. There was no way.
Juliet’s ability to manage anger within her disintegrated with her weight, until she was extremely irritable and defensive. Her mother couldn’t help her, busy as she was trying to deal with Juliet’s father all the time.
It was a set up for disaster.
Juliet couldn’t take her father’s verbal abuse anymore and stood up for herself, turning the afternoon into a yelling match. Allison stood and watched, unable to do anything to calm either of them down.
It was only when Juliet’s father slapped her that Jackson got involved. Jackson protected Juliet and only stopped when Juliet got his attention and pulled him away. They left the house that night, with no real intention besides getting away. Eventually they ended up at Nina’s apartment, but were met by her fiancee, Nick. Nina was out with some friends.
Nick took in the appearance of a bruised and bloodied Jackson, and a gaunt Juliet. He wanted nothing to do with them. “All you Bolton’s are the same.” He had said and turned them away.
Jackson was enraged, but Juliet convinced him to leave Nick alone as they left. She was tired and couldn’t deal with anymore. The siblings agreed to go stay at a friend’s house until everything got sorted out, and parted ways. Except Juliet knew she didn’t have a friend to call and stay with, Jackson didn’t know that and believed her when she said she’d be fine.
With the little amount of money she had with her, Juliet got a train ticket and managed to get all the way into Silverthorn Crossing, Canada- a few problems did occur on the way.
